Story

Story

The Domaine de la Motte is also the story of the Michaut family. Since 1960, three generations of winegrowers have successfully produced Chablis wines that express the magnificent symbiosis of the terroirs – Kimmeridgian and Portlandian – and the Chardonnay grape.

Today, Adrien Michaut is at the helm of the Domaine, which now has 53 hectares of vines.
He works with rigour and passion, and is constantly seeking to awaken the senses and make wines that express the spirit of the Domaine: pure, dynamic and authentic.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

Domaine de la Motte’s Chablis Vieilles Vignes is produced from vines that are 50 years old or more. The lower yields allow a concentration of aromas and an exceptional roundness in the mouth. It goes perfectly with regional cheeses, such as Epoisse or Soumaintrain. It is a very rich wine that can be kept for a long time, which will delight lovers of old Chablis.

Cellaring : 5 to 10 years

Decanter – 92 points (2018 Vintage)

Adrien Michaud is among the best young growers in Chablis, making wines that deliver flavour as well as outstanding value. This old-vine generic Chablis, based on fruit from nearby Beines, is rich, spicy and herbal with a hint of oak, plenty of texture and intensity and just a touch of wood. Shows the ripeness of the vintage, but remains in balance.
