Story

Story

Château Malartic-Lagravière, a Cru Classé de Graves, was previously owned by the Champagne house, Laurent- Perrier – in 1997 it was bought by a Belgian couple, Michele and Alfred-Alexandre Bonnie, whose son and daughter-in-law, Jean-Jacques and Severine, have now assumed control.

There are 47 hectares of under vine, but only 7 of which are dedicated to white grapes, situated on a fine gravel ridge and now almost encroached on by the suburban outgrowth of Léognan. The estate produces high quality reds as well as tiny amounts of Sauvignon Blanc-dominated white wine.

Tasting Notes

A fresh white with sliced green apple, lemon rind and cream. Full body, bright acidity and a long and flavorful finish. Layered and very dense. Wonderful backbone.

James Suckling – 95 Points

2 Feb, 2018 – Very vibrant lemons and limes with tropical fruit. Hints of mangeso and melon. The palate has silky, smooth fruit with seamless build and flow. Impressive. 85% sauvignon and 15% semillon. Drink or hold.

Robert Parker – 94-96 points

The 2015 Malartic Lagraviere Blanc is a blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Semillon that was picked from 8-15 September and matured in 65% new oak. It has a crisp, vibrant, quite minerally bouquet, cold limestone and subtle patisserie/almost whipped cream-like scents. The palate is very well defined with a crisp line of acidity, citrus lemon and lime fanning out with confidence on the finish that completes one of the best Malartic-Lagravière whites that I have encountered at this stage. 28th Apr 2016

Wine Enthusiast – 95 points

Smoothly textured, this fruity wine offers balanced acidity and a ripe apricot flavor. The zesty, mineral texture will allow it to develop well, promising more great fruit and texture in the future. Wait until 2024. 4/1/2018
