Story

Story

A family story… Christophe Pichon took over the estate from his father and acquired his first vines in 1991. Two years later, he invested in a wasteland to plant vines in Saint-Joseph AOC. Today he vinifies 18 hectares spread over Condrieu, Côte Rôtie, Saint-Joseph and Cornas . A production of white and red Vins de Pays completes the range. The entire Pichon family has been striving for finesse and elegance in their wines for more than 25 years.

James Suckling – 91 points

Plenty of black-fruit aromas with hints of chocolate and coffee here, making it easy to enjoy this vibrant cool-climate syrah. Good depth and and nice herbal freshness, but the tannins at the finish need a lot time in bottle to soften. Drinkable now, but best from 2024.

Wine Advocate – 89 points (2019)

The fruit-dominated 2019 Saint Joseph kicks off with scents of raspberries and black cherries. It’s a medium to full-bodied effort, like so many this vintage, with ample concentration and rich, creamy mouthfeel leading into a long, supple finish. I’d drink it young, while the fruit is still pristine, although I suspect it will age decently for up to a decade.
