Story

Story

A wine from Laguardia, in Rioja Alavesa

A very personal crianza, heir to the innovative spirit of Cosme Palacio, founder of this winery in 1894, the second oldest in Rioja Alavesa. A classic that does not lack fruit or wood, but that manages to balance them in a wine that surprises with its delicacy and freshness.

A red made with Tempranillo, the traditional Rioja grape, from vineyards planted between 500 and 600 m. altitude. You will like it… Its intense fruit and the concentration and perfect acidity of this wine, a reflection of the altitude at which the vines are planted.

What is “Wine from Laguardia”?

In order to highlight the uniqueness and particularity of a specific area within the DOca Rioja, the “Vinos de Municipio” label was born, which obliges to elaborate, grow and bottle exclusively with grapes from a specific municipality. In this case, the fact that Cosme Palacio is labeled as “Laguardia Wine” means that all its grapes and their production process have been carried out within the municipality of Laguardia, in the Rioja Alavesa sub-zone.

Specifications

Specifications

100% Tempranillo

Aged in French Oak barrels for 12 months, and a further 12 months in bottles before release.

The vines come from a selection of the best vineyards located in this municipality of Rioja Alavesa, at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria, located in altitude, where Tempranillo grows optimally.

Altitude, Southerly orientation, calcareous-clay soils and the Sierra de Cantabria play a role in protecting from inclement weather, and provide an ideal environment for old, low yielding vines to showcase their full expression.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

An intense and bright cherry red color. On the nose is voluptuous, full of fresh red fruit sensations-strawberries, raspberries-and shades of ripe dark fruit-plum, blueberry-. The memory of the new French oak Barrel, with its special notes and undergrowth background, appears sharply. It is powerful, round and of great freshness in the mouth, with an expressive finish, long and juices, very pleasurable.

A perfumed nose of mulberries, dark plums, blueberries, grilled herbs, cloves, dried violets and graphite. Medium-to full-bodied with firm, creamy tannins. Velvety and layered with bright acidity and plenty of dark spices. Flavorful, long finish. Drink or hold.
