Story

Story

Based in Gigondas since 1936, The Gabriel Meffre House is known for a sustainably and socially responsible approach.

Delicious and savory from day one: this is the commitment of Gabriel Meffre «Signature» wines. For each appellation, and in keeping with the characteristics of the vintage, our know-how is recognizable through our experienced blending of «terroirs» and grape varieties and through our careful maturing, favoring purity of
fruit and silkiness of texture. Already enjoyable in their first year after bottling, the Crus also have good aging potential.

Saint Théodoric is the name of the oldest monument of the village of Châteauneuf du Pape. This Roman chapel still hosts many art exhibitions throughout the year.

Specifications

Specifications

Blend: Subtle blend made with Grenache and Syrah grapes, and, especially for this vintage, with Mourvèdre grapes which bring complexity.
Terroir: All of the terroirs of Châteauneuf-du-Pape : sandy and limestone soils, red clay and pebbles.
Winemaking: The grapes are hand-picked and partly destemmed before fermentation. Each grape variety is fermented individually and fermentation/maceration lasts for approximately 4 weeks. After about 12 months of maturing, the different varieties, which were aged partly in oak and partly in vat, are combined to form the final blend before bottling.
Vegan Friendly.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

“Châteauneuf Du Pape Saint Theodoric has a slightly cooler-climate feel in its crunchy red and black berry fruits, peppery garrigue, spring flowers, and cedary incense-like aromas and flavors. These all carry to a medium-bodied 2018 with a good spine of acidity, a fresh, focused texture, and a great finish. Enjoy this classic, complex, elegant 2018 that I would be happy to drink”. Jeb Dunnuck, october 2020
Service & food pairing suggestions: Enjoy it at 13-15°C. Recipe idea: steak with red wine sauce or Ratatouille. It can be enjoyed young and up to 12 years of age.

Richly concentrated swirls of black-cherry preserve and roasted plum are accented by hints of granite and clove in this plump, velvet-textured blend of Grenache and Syrah. Primary in fruit yet anchored by a savory undertone of wild mint and sage, the wine is approachable young but solidly built enough to improve through 2030.
