Story

Story

Château Larrivet Haut-Brion is located a mere 15km south-east of Bordeaux and has been consistently impressive since its excellent 1996. General manager, Philippe Gervoson, has enlisted the help of the legendary oenologist Michel Rolland who has implemented radical changes such as hand-picking the grapes as late as possible to ensure maximum ripeness.

Chateau Larrivet Haut Brion may be one of the best-known unclassified wineries in Pessac Leognan and his constantly gaining recognitions on its wines and has engaged rigorously towards this journey in Excellence.

Michel Rolland’s great skill is to help make wines that are true representations of their commune, and these are fine examples. Château Larrivet Haut-Brion’s second wine. Made with grapes from selected young vines.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

A dense, dark, ruby-red color. Floral aromas at first on the nose (peony, fading rose petals) and fruity. On swirling the glass, sweet spice and toffee notes are released. The attack on the palate is round and well balanced by silky tannins, without any harshness or bitterness. The finish is elegant with jammy compote red berry fruit and sweet spice notes. An attractive, fruity, floral and silky wine to be enjoyed as from two years’ time and for five years after that. A charming fruity wine. Well-balanced, with a silkytexture. Very enjoyable, even very young !

Wine Enthusiast – 91 points (2014 vintage)

This is the second wine of Larrivet Haut-Brion. It is rich with tannins and juicy with black-currant acidity. As befits a second wine, it is developing well and easily. Drink from 2021. While it shares the same name as Château Haut-Brion, there is no ownership or location connection between the two properties.
