Story

Story

Verité (=’Truth’ in French) is an ultra-premium venture from Sonoma county, California between Jackson Family Wine & renowned French Winemaker Pierre Seillan

Known for top-notch wines, Verité excels at producing elegant and flavorful Bordeaux-inspired red blends that regularly receive top marks from the critics – with their wines having been awarded perfect 100 points by Robert Parker 15 times since their debut in 1998.

Terroir is key at Verité, where each micro-cru in each vineyard is prized for its unique attributes and painstakingly blended to create the perfect cuvée.

Robert Parker:

“These extraordinary wines, built for the long term (much like top Bordeaux), are fashioned from some of the finest fruit sources Jess Jackson owns in Sonoma County. I have purchased and loved these cuvees from the beginning”

This winery, one of the gems of the Kendall-Jackson portfolio of boutique wineries, debuted in 1998 and has been hitting on all cylinders since. I suspect top priority is given to Bordelais winemaker Pierre Seillan’s choice of the finest fruit he can find from Jackson’s holdings in Alexander Valley, Chalk Hill and Knights Valley. There are three Bordeaux-inspired cuvées made, with La Muse the Right Bank Pomerol style of wine dominated by Merlot, La Joie a Médoc-like blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, and Le Desir a St.-Emilion-oriented wine dominated by Cabernet Franc. Percentages of these principal grapes all change with the vintage, but those varieties are clearly the strength of each cuvée. Kudos once again to Pierre Seillan!’

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

La Muse sports a very deep garnet-purple color, leaping from the glass with exuberant crème de cassis, blueberry pie and licorice notes plus suggestions of Indian spices, dark chocolate, menthol, sautéed herbs and potpourri. Full-bodied, rich and seductive in the mouth, it delivers tons of black and blue fruit preserves flavors, accented by exotic spices, framed with velvety tannins and finishing on a persistent earthy/mineral note

James Suckling – 97 points

14 Feb, 2018 – This is dense yet agile young red with aromas and flavors of blackberries, black olives and black truffles. Full-bodied, layered and rich. Pretty ripe and melted tannins. Top merlot. Drink or hold.
